Man Indicted for Killing Roommate with Sledgehammer
Peter Bartoloni is facing one count of first degree murder and one count of second degree murder.
A Hampton man was indicted this month in connection with the murder of his roommate last year.
Peter Bartoloni, 70, was arrested on Oct. 7, 2013 and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the homicide of Robert Roderick, 56, in Hampton. Bartoloni was one of Roderick's roommates.
Bartoloni was indicted by a Rockingham County Superior Court grand jury on one count of first degree murder and one count of second degree murder. According to the indictments, Bartoloni purposely caused Roderick's death by striking him in the head with a sledgehammer on Oct. 3, 2013.
An autopsy showed that Roderick died as the result of "multiple blunt impact injuries to his head." He was found dead on the couch in his home at 19 M St. with a blood-soaked shirt covering his head.
