Manchester Man Stabbed Multiple Times While At Beach In York, Maine

YORK, MAINE — A Manchester man visiting York Beach in Maine was stabbed multiple times in what has been described as an unprovoked attack on Thursday.

The elderly man was at Short Sands Beach with his son, Eric Rhodes, when his son saw a man get out of a Subaru and then approach the victim and stab him. Rhodes said his father was transported to Portsmouth Hospital for treatment and remains in the hospital Friday. He is expected to survive the stab and slash wounds.

The suspect has been identified as Daniel OrBan of Windham, ME. He was arrested sitting in his Subaru a short distance from the scene.

Rhodes said his father was stabbed in the chest and in the arm, he received 26 stitches in his arm and is in stable condition at this time. In an interview, Rhodes praised the residents and bystanders for their assistance as well as the first responders.

The suspect was brought to the York County Jail where he is being held without bail until he appears in court.
