Meeting Tuesday on Lincoln Avenue Sewer Project
The public information session will be held at 7 p.m. at the Portsmouth Public Library.
Submitted by the City of Portsmouth:
The City has scheduled a public information session on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 to discuss the spring start-up of construction for the Lincoln Avenue Area “Contract 3C” sewer separation project to upgrade water, sewer and drain lines. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Portsmouth Public Library’s Levenson Room. The project work area involves portions of Richards Avenue (from Lincoln Ave to South St), Union Street (from Middle St to South St); Wibird Street (from Middle St to South St); Chauncey Street; Hawthorne Street; South Street (from Wibird St to Union St); and Park Street (from Middle St to Orchard St).
The meeting will provide an overview of the project scope, present a preliminary schedule for the 2014 construction season, provide residents the opportunity to ask questions about the continuation of the project, and learn how construction may impact the area.
This project is part of the City’s ongoing sewer separation program and is required by the Environmental Protection Agency as part of a Consent Decree. Work is anticipated to start in the latter half of March, or beginning of April, depending on weather conditions. The City realizes the project will be disruptive and appreciates residents’ patience during the continued construction.
