Archer Western Contractors takes several steps to protect community from construction work site.

Archer Western Contractors crews wasted no time this weekend to secure the Memorial Bridge construction project site from Hurricane Sandy.

According to Carol Morris, an Archer Western Contractors spokesperson, all of the barges were moved upriver to safe locations near the New Hampshire State Pier until the storm is expected to weaken on Tuesday.

The crane booms were also taken down and the drill rig on Pier 3 in the middle of the Piscataqua River was also removed, Morris wrote in an e-mail.
