Music, Dancing and Drama on Tap This Weekend
Get down at the Gaslight; cool jazz at the Press Room Saturday night; riveting cinema at the Music Hall.
As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Friday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.
1. Check out Fighting Friday at Thirsty Moose: The group Fighting Friday will take the stage at the Thirsty Moose Tap House on Friday from 7 to 11:30 p.m.
2. Check out "How I Learned to Drive": "How I Learned to Drive" by Paul Vogel continues its run at the Players' Ring this weekend. According to the theater's website, the play tells the bizarre love story between Li’l Bit and her Uncle Peck. Li’l Bit, played by rising star Jess Miller, presents a jarring look into the rear view as she relives her childhood and adolescent experiences with Peck, played by Seacoast favorite Chris Savage.

3. Bobby Keyes Trio at Press Room: The Bobby Keyes Trio will perform its Jazz music at the Press Room on Saturday at 9 p.m. There is a $7 cover charge.
4. "The Central Park Five" at Music Hall: The documentary, "The Central Park Five," will be screened at the Music Hall on Friday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 3 and 7 p.m. The film tells the story about five black and Latino teenagers who were charged with raping a white female jogger in New York City's Central Park and sentenced to prison for a crime they didn't commit. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for seniors and students.

5. Dance the night away at the Gaslight: The Portsmouth Gaslight Co. offers dancing with DJ Koko in its upstairs lounge on Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. There is no cover charge and no dress code.
