NH Expects Busier Summer With 14.9M Visitors

The Institute for New Hampshire Studies projects visitors from Europe will increase 3 percent over the summer of 2013.

New Hampshire expects a busier summer season with 14.9 million visitors spending about $1.95 billion.

The state Division of Travel and Tourism Development released these numbers – from a report by the Institute for New Hampshire Studies – on June 18. The spending projection reflects about a 2.5 percent increase from 2013.

June, July and August account for more than 40 percent of visitation and spending for travel and tourism annually, according to the state.

  • Most visitors in summer come from New England, the mid-Atlantic states and eastern Canada.
  • The number of visitors from Europe is expected to increase by 3 percent, over 2013.
  • UK, French and German travel to New Hampshire is expected to improve.

The summer season gets a boost from a number of June events, including Laconia Motorcycle Week and the 2014 Master Sand Sculpting Competition this weekend at Hampton Beach.
