NHFF, Scarecrows of the Port This Weekend
Service Credit Union to offer tours of new HQ on Lafayette Road; Chili Cook-Off Saturday.
As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Friday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.
1. NHFF continues: The 12th annual New Hampshire Film Festival continues from Friday through Sunday and gives movie-goers the opportunity to view 102 films as well as attend workshops and panel discusses at several city venues.
2. Chili Cook-Off: The Prescott Park Arts Festival's annual Chili Cook-Off will be held on Saturday afternoon at the Strawbery Banke Museum. The event is a friendly competition between as many as a dozen Seacoast area restaurants who want to claim bragging rights and raises money to support the arts festival.

3. "The Woman in Black" at the Rep: This production from London's West End that is a macabre ghost story has been a hit for many years will open at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre this weekend.
4. Scarecrows of the Port: They're back... Scarecrows of the Port will return to the city for the rest of October on Saturday with a welcome reception from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Portsmouth businesses create scarecrows to celebrate fall and display them all over the city.

5. Service Credit Union tours: On Saturday and Sunday, of its new state of the art headquarters building on Lafayette Road.
