Compared to many other New Hampshire communities, Portsmouth may have dodged Sandy's bullet on Tuesday.
As of Tuesday morning, there were just 150 Public Service New Hampshire customers without power and Portsmouth schools reopened following a two-hour delay. Meanwhile the emergency shelter that was set up for Seacoast area residents at North Hampton Elementary School was closed Tuesday morning.
Portsmouth Fire Chief Chris LeClaire rated Hurricane Sandy as a "hybrid nor-easter" in terms of how it affected Portsmouth. What follows is an image gallery showing some of Sandy's fury and how city residents coped.
