Police Report Several Car Thefts
Portsmouth Police supplied the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Friday, Feb. 1 to Sunday, Feb. 3.
Friday:
- At 6:46 a.m., 6:52 a.m., and 7:45 a.m., police reported three car thefts on Jones Avenue, Broad Street and Lens Avenue. At 6:46 a.m. on Jones Avenue, two vehicles had items taken from them. On Broad Street at 6:52 a.m., the caller said his wife's purse was stolen from their unlocked vehicle and on Lens Avenue at 7:45 a.m., the caller said a GPS was stolen from her unlocked vehicle.
- At 12:22 p.m., police reported that the loss prevention department at a Lafayette Road business had a shoplifter in custody.
- At 2:37 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he turned himself in at the police station. Shawn M. Clancy, 31, of 35 Holiday Drive, Apt. A was wanted for criminal mischief (vandalism).
- At 3:52 p.m., police reported a theft on Broad Street of a ski bag that contained $1,500 worth of ski equipment.
- At 5:01 p.m., police reported the theft of a Garmin GPS device from an unlocked vehicle on Marne Avenue valued at $100.

- At 9:32 a.m., police reported a theft of a purse on State Street that included an iPhone, Passport, and a U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Services card.
- At 2:30 p.m., police reported a theft at a Lafayette Road business after a minor walked out of the store with a shopping cart of beer on Friday morning at 11:13 a.m. At the suspect's residence, police found six cases of beer and wine and indicated that warrants will be served.
Sunday:
- At 1:38 p.m., police arrested a Newmarket man on Hanover Street who was involved in a fight. Michael Daley, 23, of 9-A River St. was charged with simple assault.
- At 2:27 a.m., police reported a theft after the caller said her wallet was stolen on Market Street and the person who stole it then made a fraudulent charge of $6.
