PORTSMOUTH, NH - Up until now travelers have enjoyed free parking when they use Portsmouth International Airport. That is about to change, according to the Seacoast Online. Starting in October, passengers who park at the Portsmouth International Airport at Pease will be charged $7 a day.

The Pease Development Authority’s Board of Directors voted 6-0 at their most recent meeting to authorize PDA Executive Director David Mullen to implement the new parking fee.

Their vote marked the first time in their history that the PDA has charged any fee for people who park at the airport at Pease International Tradeport.

Airport Director Paul Brean stated in a memo to Mullen if 25 percent of the airport’s more than 900 parking spots were full year round, the new fee will generate an annual revenue of $613,200.

In comparison, most area airports charge much more than $7 to park, including Bangor International Airport ($10 a day), Manchester Regional ($17 a day) and Boston's Logan Airport ($35 a day).
