Portsmouth Man Arrested for Assault Charges

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Sunday, July 29 through Monday, July 30.

Sunday:

  • At 1:56 p.m., police reported a burglary on Pleasant Street after the manager reported some graffiti and damage to a window where he believes someone gained access to his business.
Monday:
  • At 4:04 a.m., police reported a theft on Mirona Road after some stainless steel was stolen.
  • At 6:59 a.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he turned himself in at the police station. Richard Wentworth Campbell, 48, of 4 Freedom Circle, Apt. 14, was wanted for two counts of simple assault.
  • At 7:13 a.m., police reported a burglary on Middle Road after someone broke a glass door to try and pry it open.
  • At 9:25 a.m., police reported a theft of some cash and a pair of sunglasses on Nathaniel Drive.
  • At 9:47 a.m., police reported criminal mischief on Middle Street after the caller said one one their concrete urns was smashed overnight.
  • At 11:28 a.m., police reported criminal mischief on Cabot Street after the caller reported some graffiti on her home.
  • At 1:31 p.m., police reported a two-car accident without injury on Fleet and Congress streets.
  • At 2:27 p.m., police reported a theft of a barbecue grill on Cass Street.
  • At 4:43 p.m., police reported a theft of a computer from a motor vehicle on Court Street.
  • At 11:24 p.m., police reported a theft of $100 in cash and some prescription drugs on Osprey Drive.
