Portsmouth Man Charged with Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest
Portsmouth Police supplied the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Sunday, Jan. 27 and Monday, Jan. 28.
Sunday:
- At 11:36 a.m., police received a complaint about a pit bull fight on Peirce Island.
- At 12:53 p.m., police reported shoplifting on Lafayette Road after a caller said a mother of four young children was concealing items in the toy section. The mother was taken into custody and served a no trespass notice.

- At 11:42 a.m., police reported prostitution on Woodbury Avenue.
- At 4:05 p.m., police reported a two-car accident on International Drive and Corporate Drive with injury.
- At 4:10 p.m., police received an ID theft complaint at the police station.
- At 5:32 p.m., police arrested an Eliot, Maine man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he turned himself in at the police station. Richard M. Sullivan, 32, of 726 Greenwood St. was wanted for false report to law enforcement, unsworn falsification and three bench warrants.
- At 5:36 p.m., police reported a two-car accident on the Route 1 Bypass northbound with injury.
- At 9:43 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man on Middle Street who was intoxicated and acting belligerent. Jeffrey M. Trenholm, 50, street address unknown was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest or detention and disorderly conduct.
