Portsmouth Restaurant: Free Meals To Workers Hit By Shutdown
Portsmouth's Friendly Toast restaurant is offering free meals to federal and government workers affected by the shutdown.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — A Portsmouth restaurant is offering free meals to workers affected by the government shutdown. The Friendly Toast on Tuesday said it will offer complimentary meals to federal employees who present proof of employment or federal identification. The "shutdown special" is good through the duration of the shutdown.
"We at The Toast want those experiencing the effect of the shutdown to have a normal dining experience when they visit during this time and not worry about the bill," restaurant owner Eric Goodwin said in a statement. "This is our way to recognize and say thank you to federal and government employees for their hard work and acknowledge all that they do during this challenging time."
The offer includes any entree and drink for a worker and a guest. It excludes appetizers and alcohol.
