City ward officials knew Tuesday's election would certainly attract more voters than what they saw during the September primary, but the actual high pace they witnessed even surprised them.

City numbers show the Tuesday election that pitted President Obama against Republican candidate Mitt Romney and newly-elected NH Governor Maggie Hassan against Republican candidate Ovide Lamontagne and newly-elected Congresswoman Carol-Shea Porter against U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta, R-NH, drew 14,506 registered voters. There were also 2,538 new registered voters, which brought the total voters to more than 17,000.
