Road Construction Planned At Hoover Drive In Portsmouth

Minor traffic delays expected next week in area of Hoover Drive in Portsmouth, as crews replace drainage system to alleviate floods.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Alternating traffic will soon be in effect in the Hoover Drive area, as crews construct a new drainage system. Construction is scheduled to start Monday. Flaggers will be onsite to direct one-lane traffic in the area and drivers should expect delays.

According to the Portsmouth public works, Jamco Excavations of South Hampton has been contracted for the Hoover-Taft Area Drainage Improvements Project, with designs to alleviate flooding in that area during heavy rain. Starting next week, workers will be building a new roadway drainage system on Hoover Drive and the nearby Grant Avenue, Taft Road and FW Hartford Drive — installing pipes, catch basins, manholes and curbing, regrading the pavement and reconstructing the drainage outfall.

Flaggers will be onsite to direct the one-way alternating traffic, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Minor delays are expected. Drivers who live in the affected area will still be able to access their homes, and no utility interruptions are planned, according to public works.
