Rochester Man Charged with Bigamy
Portsmouth Police supplied the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Wednesday, Jan. 23 through Saturday, Jan. 26.
Wednesday:
- At 2:33 p.m., police reported a theft on Woodbury Avenue after the caller said a cell phone was stolen from the Ocean State Job Lot store.
- At 4:23 p.m., police reported a theft on Woodbury Avenue after the caller said someone went through their unlocked car and stole some items.
- At 7 p.m., police reported a theft on Lafayette Road after the caller said someone stole his cell phone.

- At 7:44 a.m., police reported truancy on Lafayette Road after the mother of a 9-year-old boy said he refused to go to school.
- At 8:32 a.m., police reported a motor vehicle theft on Lafayette Road.
- At 5:08 p.m., police reported shoplifting at a Lafayette Road business involving two female suspects.
- At 7:57 p.m., police arrested a Dover man for shoplifting on Lafayette Road. Ernest W. Richards, 38, of 64 Sixth St. was charged with theft from a building.
Friday:
- At 5:45 a.m., police reported a theft of a snow plow off a truck on Lafayette Road.
- At 12:16 p.m., police arrested a Rye man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he was detained by Hampton Police. William Bates, 23, of 120 Lafayette Road, Apt. 32, in Rye was wanted for theft (removing merchandise from the premises).
- At 7:57 p.m., police arrested a Rochester man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he turned himself in to police. Joseph Gibson, 41, of 45 Charles St., Apt. 1 was wanted for bigamy and making a false statement on vital records.
- At 9:43 p.m., police arrested a Dover woman following a domestic incident on Edgewood Road. Amber E. Demaray, 24, of 1 Mill St., Apt. 328 was charged with criminal threatening and simple assault.

- At 8:54 p.m., police reported a robbery on Lafayette Road after a female suspect left a store with a shopping cart full of merchandise and left in a maroon Chevy sedan.
