Sandy Claims Tall Ship that Visited Portsmouth
Coast Guard rescues 14 crew members of replica HMS Bounty before ship sank off North Carolina coast Monday.

The replica HMS Bounty, which visited Star Island this summer and Portsmouth two years ago sank off the coast of North Carolina Monday during Hurricane Sandy.
According to ABC News, 14 of the tall ship's crew members were rescued by a Coast Guard rescue helicopter, but Robin Wallbridge, the ship's captain, was unaccounted for. The HMS Bounty, the ship made famous by "The Mutiny on the Bounty," visited Star Island in August and allowed island guests to tour the vessel and meet the captain and crew. The 180-foot tall ship also visited the Sail Portsmouth Festival in 2010.
