South Span to be Floated In Tuesday Morning
Archer Western Contractors officials say the first section of the new Memorial Bridge will be transported on a barge from the Port of New Hampshire on Jan. 15.

UPDATED, 7:30 p.m.: Archer Western Contractors officials announced Friday night the South Span will be transported on a barge on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Port of New Hampshire to the Scott Avenue approach.
Carol Morris, an Archer Western Contractors spokesperson, said the South Span would be moved during low tide and moved between Piers 1 and 2. She said it would then be positioned and lowered on new piers with tugboats and a temporary jacking system. Morris said additional details the float in will be available on Tuesday morning.

Carol Morris, an Archer Western Contractors spokesperson, told Portsmouth Patch on Friday afternoon that construction crews hope to begin attaching the newly built South Span to the Scott Avenue approach in Portsmouth on Jan. 15 after it arrives on a barge from the Port of New Hampshire.
