'Sunrise' Will Now Greet Portsmouth Patch Facebook Followers

The votes for a new Portsmouth Patch Facebook cover photo have all been tallied and from this point forward our Facebook followers will now be greeted by a beautiful sunrise over the city shot by Cheryl Duford.

There were a total of 21 photographs submitted and many of them captured sights that are very synonymous with Portsmouth from Strawbery Banke to the former Memorial Bridge to Market Square.

In the end, Duford's photograph of a fiery sunrise garnered 32 of the 58 votes cast. Photographer Linda Carrigan's Market Square photo finished second with 16 votes. Kate Fiermonti's photo of a child wearing a Santa hat looking at the bakery case at Popovers on the Square finished third with six votes.

First and foremost, Portsmouth Patch wants to congratulate Cheryl for winning our first Facebook cover photo contest and we also want to thank all of the photographers who submitted such great images.

Cheryl will soon be receiving a $50 AmEx gift card in the mail as our winner.
