The Rosa to Reopen This Summer

State Street restaurant's new owners continue to renovate the interior of the building.

The Rosa restaurant is poised to reopen for business sometime in the summer of 2013, according to its new owners.

A sign stating this fact was posted on front of the building as construction crews continue to renovate the interior of the building. that includes three buildings for $1.6 million on Dec. 20, according to John Samonas, owner of Samonas Realty on Bow Street.

Mike McLean, the general manager of The Rosa, couldn't say for sure when the new ownership team will reopen the Italian family-style eatery.

"There's no way of knowing," he said. "It's based on how long the build-out takes."

McLean, assistant general manager of Martingale Wharf on Bow Street, said the new owners are still in the process of obtaining additional permits from the city and they are also creating the new menu and purchasing new furniture. The city building permit posted on front of the restaurant shows the estimated construction cost to renovate the interior at about $40,000.

The goal of preserving the exterior of the restaurant and re-create the interior dining facilities has not changed, he said.

"We're going to try to keep it as original as it was," he said.
