USS New Hampshire Crew Returns

Members of the USS New Hampshire submarine crew will visit Strawbery Banke Museum for the first time since the vessel was commissioned in 2008.

The captain and some crew members of the USS New Hampshire (SSN-778) will return to the Seacoast on Friday for the time since the Navy submarine was commissioned at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on Oct. 25, 2008.

According to Stephanie Seacord, a spokeswoman for Strawbery Banke Museum, Capt. John McGunnigle and some of his sailors will first visit Dover High School and meet with some high school seniors who were in third grade when they petitioned Gov. John Lynch, the Secretary of Defense and the New Hampshire Congressional delegation to name a new Virginia-class nuclear submarine New Hampshire.

The students are: Zarek Boyd, Connor Cunio, Maxwell Gutowski, Justin Hoffner, Ryan Jordan, Zoe Kay, Carter Moore, Hanna Munoz, Paige Niler, Matthew Palczynski, and Nicholas Potter.

The USS New Hampshire commander and crew members will then make their way to Strawbery Banke Museum where they will have lunch with Lynch and members of the USS New Hampshire Community Commissioning Committee from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., according to Seacord.

They will then tour Strawbery Banke Museum's historic houses following the luncheon, according to Seacord.
