What's Closed in Portsmouth on Thanksgiving Day
City offices, recreational facilities and Portsmouth schools will all be closed on Thursday for the holiday.
The Thanksgiving Day holiday will be just that for city offices and recreational facilities.
According to city officials, City Hall, the Portsmouth Public Library, Portsmouth schools and the Connie Bean Center and Spinnaker Point Recreation Center will be closed on Thursday for the holiday.
On Wednesday, Portsmouth schools will be closed, the Portsmouth Indoor Pool will close at 4 p.m. and the library will close at 5;30 p.m.

On Friday, City Hall and all city offices, the library, Portsmouth schools and the Connie Bean center will be closed, but Spinnaker Point Recreation Center and the Portsmouth Indoor Pool will be open.
Any scheduled solid waste collection and recycling on Thursday will take place on Wednesday, but there will be no yard waste collection on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday even though regular solid waste collection and recycling will take place on Friday.

City officials also said the Recycling Center will be open to accept yard waste as usual on Saturday.
