What's Open, Closed on President's Day in Portsmouth?

City offices are closed, but Portsmouth Schools are open on Monday, Feb. 18.

President's Day weekend is once again upon us, but knowing what's open and closed in Portsmouth takes some careful examination because this holiday where we celebrate the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln is a little complicated.

For instance, while Portsmouth City Hall offices, Portsmouth Public Library and the city's Recycling Center are all closed on Monday, Feb. 18., Portsmouth Schools are open. Portsmouth students can take some solace in the fact they will be off for a whole week beginning on Monday, Feb. 25 for winter recess.

There will also be regular curbside collection of rubbish and recyclables on Monday throughout the city. All of the city's recreational facilities, including the Connie Bean Center and Spinnaker Point Recreation Center, will be open on Monday.
