For several months, construction crews have been busy building a large structure on Greenleaf Avenue that faces Lafayette Road, but what are they building?

It is a fair question given all of the construction activity that has taken place and continues to take place on Lafayette Road. In the past year alone, Portsmouth Chevrolet and Goodwill have constructed a new dealership and a new store. The Army Reserve is building a new Army Reserve Center off of West Road and Service Credit Union moved into its new headquarters last fall.

Here is the question Bill asked regarding this development: Hey I just wanted to know what those guys are building on Greenleaf Avenue. I drive by there every day and I can't figure it out.

Well, Bill. Here is the answer: it's commercial. The crews with Ricci Construction are building a new commercial development that will have a new bank with a drive-thru and a restaurant on the corner of Greenleaf Avenue and Lafayette Road. But the city has not received any final plans from the developer about which bank or which restaurant might end up as the development's new tenants. It is scheduled to be completed by this fall.
