Math/Science Institute Seeks $43K Tax Abatement

The Eagle Tribune reported the news today.

Proving to the Windham tax assessor that they are a qualifying non-profit and educational entity, a local foundation seeking to build a math and science center in Windham will also seek to abate $43,000 in taxes with interest, according to the Eagle Tribune.

According to the paper, Windham Selectmen will vote to approve the measure on Monday. The paper also reported that revised plans for a facility to house the El Hefni Technical Training Foundation's programs could go before the Planning Board as soon as March 6. Wetland setback requirements have forced the change in plans.

The foundation has had great difficulty nailing down its location in Windham.

The school proposal first went before planners in Sept. 2011, and was proposed to be located on Roulston Road near the rail trail.

The same application was reviewed again in 2012, this time across the street from the old proposed spot.
