Project Blackout Cancer Week Kicks Off In Windham Monday
The 2022 townwide pediatric cancer awareness activities will begin on Monday with a T-shirt sale, events, and donation drive.

WINDHAM, NH — On Monday, the annual Project Blackout pediatric cancer awareness events in Windham will begin.
The org said all preordered T-shirts must be picked up at Windham High School between 3 and 8 p.m. on Monday. The T-shirt will be the admission to the annual Jaguar Blackout Cancer Football Game on Friday.
On Tuesday, Fody’s Tavern in Derry hosts the official kickoff party from 4 to 9 p.m. Project Blackout will receive 10 percent of all sales, including takeout, on Tuesday. The Pop Roks Band performs from 6 to 9 p.m.

At Friendly Red’s in Windham on Wednesday, special Blackout Ladies Night raffles will be held with proceeds donated to the effort.
At 7 p.m. on Friday, the annual football game will be held at Windham High School versus Salem while thousands of fans wear their T-shirts in support. Food trucks and various eateries will offer a Taste of Windham opportunities for purchase before and during the game.

“Countless people, schools, and businesses throughout Windham have contributed to our planning efforts in so many ways,” Holly Breton, the chairwoman of the 2022 Windham Blackout Committee, said. “We are humbled every year by their dedication to helping us make this week such a special one for our town and our honored families. This is the week that makes everything worth it.”
Other Blackout games include:
- 4 p.m. on Sept. 19: WHS Girls Field Hockey
- 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 20: WHS Golf
- 4 p.m. on Sept. 20: WHS Girls Soccer
- 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 21: WHS Girls Volleyball
- 4 p.m. on Sept. 22: WHS Boys Soccer
Breton said seeing everyone in the community come together for the event was “pure magic.”
Football games at other schools are also raising awareness about pediatric cancer and raising money, too, for CHaD. Those games include Bishop Guertin vs. Winnacunnet on Oct. 1; Pelham vs. Lebanon on Oct. 7; Bow vs. St. Thomas Aquinas on Oct. 14; and Malden Catholic vs. Boston College High on Oct. 28.
