2 Inches Of Rain, Chilly, Stormy Conditions In Latest NJ Forecast

Temperatures are usually in the upper 70s this time of year, but this week they'll struggle to reach 60 as we get soaked with more rain.

NEW JERSEY — The second half of the week will be chilly, gloomy and very wet as periods of rain and thunderstorms soak the entire Garden State, according to the latest forecast.

In late May, the Garden State usually see highs in the upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service. But Wednesday, we'll struggle to reach 60 degrees and could even set minimum high temperature records, forecasters say (see below chart).

"In other words, it will be a rainy, cool, and fairly unpleasant day across the area," National Weather Service forecasters said.

Rainfall will be moderate to heavy at times, especially in South Jersey. Totals of 0.5 to 1 inch of rain are expected in North Jersey, with up to 2 inches possible in South Jersey.

Rain will diminish by Thursday morning, and we could actually see some sun and warmer temperatures.

Just don't expect that to last. More rain and thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon and evening, and likely Saturday as well, forecasters said. Things should finally clear up by Sunday.

And the good news is that this rainy stretch may finally come to an end. AccuWeather forecasters say that warmth will move in from the west, bringing a stretch of days in the 80s and 90s.

"There are signs that a stronger warming trend will develop next week, and that could begin during the latter part of the first weekend in June," AccuWeather Meteorologist Elizabeth Danco said.
