Rain To Drench NJ Ahead Of Holiday Weekend: See Latest Forecast

Tuesday will be the last nice day until this weekend, as cooler temperatures and plenty of rain are set to soak New Jersey.

NEW JERSEY — Get outside and enjoy the nice weather Tuesday, as forecasters say the rest of the week will be gloomy, cool and very rainy.

Clouds will increase Tuesday night and some rain will start by daybreak Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Along with the rain, temperatures will be about 10 to 20 degrees cooler below historical averages for late May, AccuWeather forecasters said.

"The dreary weather should be quite noticeable as we are heading into the time of year when people are starting to open up their pools," AccuWeather Meteorologist Nicole Joniak said.

Periods of rain will soak New Jersey Wednesday and Thursday, along with some gusts of wind, forecasters say.

The winds will be most noticeable along the Jersey Shore, according to AccuWeather forecasters.

Across the state, rain totals look to be 1 to 1.5 inches, with locally higher amounts possible and some localized flooding cannot be ruled out.

Rain will turn more showery by Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service. By Friday, things will improve slightly - though there will be some lingering rain showers and cloudy skies, temperatures will warm a little, but it will still be cool.

Temperatures will rebound over the holiday weekend though still below average, with showers still possible Saturday, Sunday and Monday. National Weather Service forecasters still are not fully confident in this, however, and things will become more clear as we get further into the week.
