Nor'Easter Brings Thunderstorms, Soaking Rain To NJ

Up to 1.5 inches of rain, gusty winds and seasonally chilly temperatures are in store through the rest of the week, forecasters say.

NEW JERSEY — Though Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kickoff to summer, the rest of the week will feel more like early spring with its cooler temperatures, gusty winds and soaking rain due to a nor'easter hitting New Jersey, according to the latest forecast.

Up to 1.5 inches of rain is expected to fall through the end of the day Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

Wednesday will be particularly chilly, with temperatures between 50 degrees and 61 degrees along with easterly winds bringing gusts of 25 to 35 mph, the National Weather Service said.

Rain showers continue Thursday, though conditions will improve gradually into Friday, forecasters say.

AccuWeather meteorologists also predict minor coastal flooding during high tide, with wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph along the Jersey Shore.

Showers will taper off by Friday, though forecasters expect some to linger during the day. Highs will be in the 60s.

A stray shower or two is possible through the weekend, but overall conditions are expected to improve, according to the National Weather Service.

By Monday - Memorial Day - things should be nicer, though there's still a slight chance of rain.
