Rain, Frost In NJ Forecast For Week Ahead: NWS

A chilly week is in store for the Garden State, with morning freeze conditions predicted for most weekdays ahead, forecasters said.

NEW JERSEY - A chilly week is in store for the Garden State, with temperatures set to drop as low as the 30s and a chance of morning freeze conditions, forecasters said.

Monday’s forecast remains mostly cloudy with scattered showers throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service. Afternoon temperatures in the 60s are also slated to drop into the 30s and low 40s overnight, paving the way for frost conditions starting Tuesday morning.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday’s daily high temperatures are set to hover around the 40s and 50s, with colder temperatures slated from the Poconos to northwest New Jersey.

Commuters in the region can also expect to wake up to frosty windshields and biting early morning winds through Thursday, the weather agency said.

“It will be on the cold side Tuesday through Thursday, with each night having a frost or freeze potential for much of the area,” the National Weather Service said in a tweet.

As of Monday morning, 14 New Jersey counties are under a hazardous weather outlook through Thursday due to the expected freeze, the National Weather Service said. The affected counties are:

  • Morris
  • Hunterdon
  • Somerset
  • Middlesex
  • Monmouth
  • Mercer
  • Salem
  • Gloucester
  • Camden
  • Burlington
  • Ocean
  • Cumberland
  • Atlantic
  • Cape May

Friday, however, will see some of the warmest weather this week, with highs set near 62 degrees and sunny skies, per AccuWeather.

The weekend will continue the temperate fall weather trend with temperatures in the high 60s and partly sunny conditions.

Here’s the latest weather forecast, per the National Weather Service:

Monday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Monday Night: A chance of showers, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. West wind around 5 mph.

Tuesday Night: Areas of frost after 2 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 36. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Wednesday: Areas of frost before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Light southwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Wednesday Night: Areas of frost after 2 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 35.
