Snow, Frigid Temps Welcome 2026 In NJ: Latest Forecast
A dusting of snow and below freezing temperatures are in store for the New Year in New Jersey, according to the latest forecast.
New Jersey will welcome 2026 with a dusting of snow and frigid temperatures, according to the latest forecast.
Wednesday will be a breezy day, though not as windy as the day prior, National Weather Service forecasters said. Light snow and flurries are possible, but a dusting at most is expected. These started out in the south and will move north late Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures will drop by the evening, with wind and dry air making things seem even colder, AccuWeather forecasters said.

"If the weather pans out as forecast, the midnight temperature on New Year's Eve at Times Square will be the coldest since the cusp of 2017 and 2018, when it was a frigid 9 degrees," AccuWeather Social Media Producer and Meteorologist Jesse Ferrell said.
A few flurries could fall with the ball drop as well, according to AccuWeather. Accumulating snow is not expected.

"If there is snow of any consequence during the ball drop, it will be the first since 2009," Ferrell said. "While there was a bit of snow reported in 2013 on New Year's Eve, it occurred during the daylight hours only. The storm in 2009 brought rain and 1.5 inches of snow to Manhattan on Dec. 31."
For New Year's Day, things will stay cold and breezy, with wind gusts of 20 mph to 30 mph. Northwest of I-95 will see highs in the 20s and the rest of the area will be in the 30s, according to the National Weather Service.
Conditions will stay dry through the weekend, with the possibility of snow returning early next week.
