‘Heat Dome’ Shatters, Ushering In Wet Weekend Weather In NJ: Here’s The Latest Forecast
Friday's temperatures are significantly cooler than they were this week as a rainy, stormy weekend is ahead.
Cooler temperatures swept across the Garden State Friday, shattering the ‘heat dome’ that baked NJ most of the week and serving as a harbinger of wet weather to start the weekend.
"Low clouds have arrived with the cooler air," National Weather Service forecasters said. "This airmass will settle and remain for the day producing weather with below normal temps and frequent clouds."
Temperatures will only top out in the 70s, with upper 60s possible in the northwestern portion of the state.

There's a chance for showers and an isolated storm across the state during the day, and the chances increase at night, according to the National Weather Service. This is particularly likely in the northwestern portion of the state.
Thunderstorms may also erupt Saturday afternoon into evening, and they could be severe, forecasters warn. AccuWeather forecasters predict winds of 50 to 60 mph with flooding downpours.

Things will dry out Saturday evening, ushering in warmer and drier weather.
"The upper air pattern for next week will be significantly different than the previous week," National Weather Service forecasters said. Monday and Tuesday will be hot, humid and rainy, but nowhere near as extreme as this past week. Then after mid-week, things should dry out again, though forecasters aren't very confident for the long-term.
