Stormy Weather, Hot Temps In Store This Week In NJ: Latest Forecast

Showers and thunderstorms will drench the state over the next 24 hours, followed by a warmup, according to the latest forecast.

NEW JERSEY — Rain kicks off the week in the Garden State, but it will be followed by warmer temperatures, according to the latest forecast.

The week will start off cool as well as wet.

"The rain and clouds will keep temperatures up to 10 degrees below the historical average to start the week," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Chad Merrill. "The good news for those yearning for summer weather is that high pressure and much warmer weather returns for the second half of the week."

On Monday night, northwestern Jersey could see some showers with embedded storms, National Weather Service forecasters said. Heavy downpours are also possible.

A cold front moves across the area Tuesday, bringing storms to New Jersey by the afternoon, forecasters said. The rain is most likely to fall in areas that are along and ahead of the cold front, which is Central and South Jersey, according to the National Weather Service.

By Tuesday night, the front will move offshore and any lingering rain will end as skies clear, forecasters said.

Temperatures will increase Wednesday into the 80s and possibly even into the 90s by Thursday.
