Asbury Park Cooling Centers Will Be Open Through Sunday
On Thursday, a 73-year-old Pennsylvania man died from heat-related causes, marking the region's first death due to the heat wave:

ASBURY PARK, NJ — As the heat wave is expected to extend through the weekend, the city of Asbury Park announced Friday morning that its two cooling centers will be open through Sunday, July 24.
Due to excessive heat, air-conditioned cooling centers will be open through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

On Thursday, a Pennsylvania man reportedly died from heat-related causes: An Allentown man, 73, died on Thursday, the Lehigh County Coroner's Office said. Underlying conditions including diabetes and hyperthermia contributed to his death, NBC Philadelphia reports.

WFMZ reports his death occurred at about 4 p.m. He suffered from "prolonged" heat exposure, authorities said.
Several days of mid to upper 90s weather have led into this weekend. Friday is expected to see a high of 96, before temperatures right around 99 and 100 are forecasted on both Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. AccuWeather warns RealFeel temps. will feel like 110 degrees in parts of New York, Philadelphia and Boston through the weekend.
