Asbury Park Officials: Safeguard Community In Coronavirus Crisis

ASBURY PARK – Officials say they're continuing to make decisions to safeguard the community from the coronavirus while also providing the latest updates on how COVID-19 is affecting the city.

• Gov. Phil Murphy’s Stay at Home Executive Order is still in effect and the council is urging everyone to continue to practice safe social distancing by staying at least 6 feet away from others.
• Residents may still leave their homes for essential needs – to head to the grocery store, seek medical care, visit close family, report to work, or go outside for exercise.
• Murphy is now requiring you wear a face covering when visiting essential retailers to slow the spread of COVID-19. Wearing a face covering could help keep you from infecting others—early research shows that individuals who are infected, but haven’t yet displayed symptoms, can still spread the virus. • To help stop the spread of germs: wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth; cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue then throw the tissue in the trash; and clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
• If you have symptoms, call your doctor and stay at home except to get medical care. If you have an emergency that requires calling 9-1-1, we ask that you let the call-taker know if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms—our first responders’ safety is even more valuable in this crisis.
