Freezing Rain, ‘Very Slippery’ Roads Prompt Winter Weather Advisory In NJ
A treacherous mix of freezing rain, snow and sleet is expected to impact NJ roads through the early afternoon, officials said.
NEW JERSEY - A treacherous mix of freezing rain, snow and sleet is expected to impact New Jersey roads through the early afternoon, with officials warning of “very slippery” roads, sidewalks and more.
A light glaze of ice as well as freezing rain throughout the Garden State has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for all but one county (Cape May).
“Very slippery sidewalks, roads, and bridges are possible,” the National Weather Service said Monday. “The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.”

“We’re closely monitoring the forecast for winter weather – with a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow expected to impact the state tomorrow,” Gov. Phil Murphy said via Twitter on Sunday night. “Please drive with caution, stay tuned to your local weather, and stay safe.”
North Jersey counties are under a winter weather advisory until around 1 p.m. this afternoon, while a similar advisory is expected to end around 10 a.m. in central and South Jersey. The counties under the winter weather advisory are:

North Jersey is expected to see yet another round of light snow and sleet in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Here’s the latest forecast, per the National Weather Service:
North Jersey
Monday: A chance of freezing drizzle before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of drizzle between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., then a slight chance of rain after 4 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 36. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Tonight: A slight chance of rain, snow, and sleet before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of snow and sleet between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 21. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 43. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
South Jersey
Monday: A chance of freezing drizzle before 10 a.m., then a chance of drizzle between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., then a chance of rain after 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 38. North wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Monday Night: A chance of rain, mainly before 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. West wind 5 to 15 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 48. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
