Jon Stewart Drums Up A Rhythm With Band In Monmouth County
The comedian and host of "The Daily Show" is in a band performing in Monmouth County spots, including an Asbury Park bar, a report said.
ASBURY PARK, NJ — Comedian Jon Stewart may be best known for his biting wit as the host of "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central.
Turns out the Monmouth County resident has another talent that keeps him busy: Drumming in a local band. On Thursday, the band named Church and State TM showed up at a bar in Asbury Park and played a set for the crowd, the Asbury Park Press reported.
The band, based in Asbury Park, has been playing formal gigs on and off for several months, the Press reported. In April, the band took the stage at Georgie's in Asbury Park, a popular gay bar that offers live music.

Stewart, who was raised in Lawrenceville and lives in Colts Neck, told the Press he's only able to be with the band on day a week but loves it.
"It's awesome," he said. "I can't tell you how much these guys have brought to my life. It's just such a joy to play with them every week."
