Snow Possible In NJ Super Bowl Sunday Forecast
A wintry mix of rain and snow may hit New Jersey just in time for the big game, forecasters say. Here's the latest:
NEW JERSEY - Garden State fans of the big game may want to bundle up on Super Bowl Sunday as forecasters expect plummeting temperatures and a wintry mix of rain and snow.
In a Thursday morning forecast discussion, the National Weather Service noted that “steady precipitation (mostly snow)” is slated for much of the state on Sunday, lasting from Sunday morning into the afternoon.
“A small accumulation is possible, but not certain at this point,” the agency said.

Any lingering precipitation is expected to end Sunday night.
“The antennas are still up for an East Coast storm on Sunday and Monday,” said AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno, adding that the direct impact of the snowfall is still uncertain and experts are still weighing potential outcomes.

According to the most updated models from the National Weather Service, most of central and South Jersey will see around half an inch of snow accumulation, while northern counties may see roughly a quarter of an inch.


There is also a chance of rain and snow in the early hours of Saturday morning, the National Weather Service said.
Here’s the latest forecast:
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Light west wind increasing to 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 31. West wind 3 to 7 mph.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 50. Light southwest wind becoming south 6 to 11 mph in the morning.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Southwest wind around 7 mph.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 54. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night: A chance of rain and snow between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then a chance of snow after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Sunday: A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17.
