Basking Ridge Mom Started 2 Businesses Mid-Pandemic

BASKING RIDGE, NJ— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks! Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours. This submission comes from Matt Bosso who nominated Loren Raye of Basking Ridge.

What makes your Mom extra special?

Besides being an amazing mom to our four-year-old daughter Sophie, Loren is a successful voiceover artist and public speaking coach. The really incredible part is that following the cancellation of her long-running Boston radio show due to COVID-related budget cuts in April 2020, Loren launched both of her businesses in the middle of the pandemic while taking on most of the caretaking responsibilities for our daughter. In her spare time, Loren volunteers with causes near to her heart, including the Mass PPD Fund, which supports postpartum women. In fact, she will be traveling to Boston over Mother’s Day Weekend to take part in the non-profit’s annual fundraiser. You can hear Loren all across North America each morning as the voice of the Elvis Duran Network, while locally she offers private coaching to help students become more confident, charismatic speakers.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

She’s worked so hard the past three years to launch and grow her businesses while navigating a pandemic with a toddler. If she can’t find time to take a break, the least we can do is show her lots of love and let her know how much she is appreciated.
