Basking Ridge Non-Profit Looks To Bring Joy To Children In Need This Holiday Season

Holiday Hope matches sponsors with children in need to provide them with gifts during the holiday season.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — As the season of giving draws near, Holiday Hope, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Basking Ridge dedicated to helping underprivileged children, is calling on individuals, businesses, and organizations across New Jersey to join its 2025 holiday campaign.

By sponsoring a child, or hosting a “Giving Tree,” the community has the opportunity to bring love, dignity and joy to children who might otherwise go without this holiday season. Donations are also welcome.

Founded in 1991 when two social workers answered letters sent to Santa (found in the New York City post office), Holiday Hope has grown from a small effort into a recognized partner to more than 20 agencies across North and Central New Jersey and New York City, and has evolved to support children of all faiths.

Sponsor a Child(ren)

Holiday Hope works with partner agencies to identify children in need; children who might not have a holiday celebration otherwise. Each child receives a wish list that includes: something they want, something they need, and something educational. Sponsors select a child (or children), purchase the items, wrap and tag gifts, and deliver them to Harding in early December.

What sets Holiday Hope apart is its thoughtful, dignity-preserving approach: ensuring children feel valued and that their experience mirrors the joy of the season.

Host a Giving Tree: Perfect for Businesses, Clubs & Organizations

Businesses, churches, schools, civic groups and other organizations are encouraged to host a Giving Tree. You set up a display of tags — each tag representing a child with their gift list details — and invite employees, customers or members to pick a tag and fulfill the wish. It’s a powerful team-building, community-giving initiative that shows your organization’s heart and impact in the community.

Last year, Holiday Hope sponsored nearly 1,300 children and supported 22 partner agencies, reaching across NJ and NY. The earlier sponsors and giving tree hosts commit, the better planning the organization can do to ensure gifts are delivered smoothly and in time.
