'Black Poster Project' Visits Bloomfield To Mourn Drug Overdose Victims
It was a reminder that "every life matters" – and that help is available for those in need.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — It was a reminder that “every life matters” – and that help is available for those in need.
The Township of Bloomfield recently hosted “The Black Poster Project,” a traveling memorial exhibit honoring lives lost to substance use and drug overdoses.
The exhibit features posters of people whose lives were tragically cut short, each telling a deeply personal story.

The exhibit was hosted at Bloomfield High School last month as part of its health education curriculum and substance use prevention efforts. Students got a chance to engage with it earlier in the day, and parents and guardians got to view it later as part of Back To School Night.
The event also featured community resource tables offering information and support from the Bloomfield Department of Human Services, the Essex Health and Wellness Recovery Center, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Rutgers CARE Center, Hazel House Sober Living, We Care Case Management, Narcotics Anonymous, and the Prevention Link Recovery Center.

Bloomfield Mayor Jenny Mundell offered remarks about the exhibit and its mission.
“This is a crisis that has touched every community, and sadly, our own,” Mundell said.
“By showing the real faces and stories behind these tragic statistics, we hope to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind everyone that help is available and every life matters,” the mayor added.
