Bloomfield Election Results: Mayor, Council, School Board (UPDATED)
Jenny Mundell (mayor), Monica Charris Tabares (council), and Viviana Rojas, Michael Heller and Jessica Aviles (school board) are at the top.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The dust is settling down from the 2024 general election in Bloomfield, and all districts have been reported in the races for mayor, town council and the school board.
Bloomfield voters went to their polling places on Nov. 5 to cast ballots for several candidates, including three key local races. Polls closed at 8 p.m., with early voting and mail-in voting launching earlier this month. >> Want local election results? Sign up for free Patch email alerts.

MAYOR
Bloomfield residents cast ballots to decide who takes over an unexpired term for mayor, which was left vacant when Michael Venezia took a new post in the New Jersey Assembly.

David Tucker (Republican) is running against councilwoman Jenny Mundell, who defeated interim mayor Ted Gamble in a primary election for the Democratic nod earlier this year.
With 100 percent of districts reported, it appears that Mundell will become Bloomfield's new mayor. Here are the uncertified election results, as per the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Jenny Mundell – 14,995 votes (70.02%)
- David Tucker – 6,420 votes (29.98%)
TOWN COUNCIL
Bloomfield residents will also cast ballots for an unexpired at-large seat on the town council. The candidates are Monica Charris Tabares (Democrat) and Russell Mollica (Republican).
With 100 percent of districts reported, it appears that Charris Tabares has captured the seat. Here are the uncertified election results, as per the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Monica Charris Tabares – 14,727 votes (69.41%)
- Russell Mollica – 6,489 votes (30.59%)
BOARD OF EDUCATION
There are six candidates competing for three open seats on the Bloomfield Board of Education. Terms last for three years. The candidates are: Michael Heller, Shane Berger, Viviana Rojas, Jessica Aviles, Matthew Brewster, and Joelle Bernhard.
With 100 percent of districts reported, it appears that Rojas, Heller and Aviles have captured seats on the board. Here are the uncertified election results, as per the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Michael Heller – 7,219 votes (18.49%)
- Shane Berger – 5,415 votes (13.87%)
- Viviana Rojas – 7,516 votes (19.25%)
- Jessica Aviles – 7,367 votes (18.87%)
- Matthew Brewster – 5,778 votes (14.8%)
- Joelle Bernhard – 5,755 votes (14.74%)
