Glen Ridge Cops Reunite With Baby They Helped To Deliver

Happy belated birthday, Teddy Speck.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Emergency responders in Glen Ridge made an unusual-but-happy call to a local home earlier this month, helping to deliver a healthy baby boy, authorities announced Tuesday.

The Glen Ridge Police Department wished Teddy Speck a belated happy birthday, which took place on March 4. Here’s what happened, police said:

“The Glen Ridge Police Department responds to a variety of calls on a daily basis. However, the department received a special call on March 4 at 2:30 p.m. While working the police desk, Officer Grogan took a 9-1-1 call from the Speck residence requesting immediate assistance as Mrs. Speck was in labor. Sergeant Schwartz, Officer Oliva and Officer Cicchetti rushed to the Specks’ home, where they assisted the Speck family in delivering a healthy baby boy, Teddy. Working in conjunction with the Glen Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Squad and paramedics, officers on scene assisted the family through the birthing process and ensured successful post-delivery care.”

Last weekend, the Speck family stopped by police headquarters to thank the officers and the ambulance squad members for their dedicated service and assistance.
