Restoration Work Continues At Halcyon Pond In Bloomfield
"This is the first of several steps we are taking to restore the pond and move it toward a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future."

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Workers removed debris from Halcyon Pond in Bloomfield on Wednesday as part of an ongoing restoration effort.
According to the township’s public works department, a team from Solitude Pond Management used a hydro-rake to remove dirt and debris from the pond (watch a video of it in action here).
“This is the first of several steps we are taking to restore the pond and move it toward a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future,” the public works department reported.

The department has called the local pond a “hidden gem” of Bloomfield in previous social media posts.
“The walking path is perfect for a daily stroll and offers a peaceful setting to enjoy nature,” the public works department suggested in February.

In May, the department announced that crews would be working in and around the pond.
“As directed by our pond management vendor, we will be draining and refilling the pond with clean, fresh water to help improve overall water quality,” administrators said. “This maintenance is part of our ongoing efforts to keep the pond healthy and looking its best.”
In July, the Department of Public Works & Park Maintenance partnered with aquatic specialists from Solitude Lake Management to monitor and improve water quality in Halcyon Pond.
Here were the results, administrators said:
“On July 15, 2025, their technicians were onsite collecting water samples. They reported that ‘the pond has drastically improved since the start of the season’ and noted that ‘the water lilies look extremely healthy and are starting to bloom.’ At their recommendation, we added additional water to the pond yesterday.”
