Tom Fleming Sunset Classic Returning To Bloomfield For 2025

ShopRite of Brookdale, located in Bloomfield, NJ, has committed to a $10,000 Title Sponsorship of the Tom Fleming Sunset Classic. ShopRite of Brookdale has been a sponsor of the Sunset Classic for over 23 years and their coming on board once again as the Title Sponsor makes this a great partnership.

“The ShopRite of Brookdale, “Your Supermarket with a Heart” is excited to commit our support as the title sponsor for this amazing event. Education is one of our four philanthropic pillars, which include public health, food security and Jewish programs and services,” shared Andrew Kent, Executive Vice President of Glass Gardens, Inc., a member of the Wakefern Corporation since 1955 and the new owner of Brookdale Shop-Rite.

“We are very grateful for the generosity of ShopRite of Brookdale and are proud to join forces with an organization where we align on many core values. With the help of ShopRite of Brookdale we will be able to build on the needs of our educational community,” informed Paul Giuliano, Race Director.

The event proceeds benefit the Vocational Educational Special Training (V.E.S.T) program at Bloomfield High School, and all special needs programs throughout the District. The V.E.S.T program services developmentally delayed adolescents and young adults from ages 15 to 21 with the goal of providing the means to make the students independent and employable. This falls under the umbrella of the Bloomfield Educational Foundation, a registered 501-C-3 charity, founded in 1999, to enhance the educational opportunities for all students of the Bloomfield School District. To date, the BEF has given over 2.4 million dollars to the District to support innovative teaching programs, District wide initiatives and scholarships.

The 2025 ShopRite of Brookdale Tom Fleming Sunset Classic, a USTAF NJ Championship Race, will be held on Thursday June 26, 2025. There will be fun for the whole family! Youngsters, ages 2-12, can enjoy a Kids Fun Run at 6:30PM at Foley Field. Open to all ages, The Rick Petersen Mile, and is a timed event on a USATF certified course and starts at 7PM. The ever popular 5 Mile Road begins at 7:30pm and will take runners through the streets of Bloomfield and Glen Ridge. Fun Run and Rick Petersen Mile runners will receive a commemorative T-shirt and ShopRite of Brookdale Tom Fleming Classic runners will receive a commemorative runners’ tech shirt. Adding to the festivities, ShopRite of Brookdale will also be offering food, drinks and ice cream from their signature ice cream truck. This event has traditionally been a great way to kick off the 4th of July holiday.
