Trailblazing Bloomfield HS Wrestler Raises Funds To Seek Future Glory
Bloomfield's Kira Pipkins has been setting high school wrestling milestones. An online fundraiser will help her to set more.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Earlier this year, Bloomfield's Kira Pipkins became the first junior female in NJSIAA history to capture three consecutive state wrestling titles. Now, an online fundraiser is trying to help her achieve future glory for herself and her hometown.
Pipkins’ mother, Shantale, said her daughter planned to head to Fargo, North Dakota, to compete in the 2022 USA Wrestling Junior and 16U National Championships, which kicked off last weekend.
A GoFundMe campaign that aims to help the honor student pay for airfare, hotel, car rental and meals has raised more than $4,000 from over 90 donors. Learn more or make a donation here.

According to Kira Pipkins:
“My daughter, Kira Pipkins, a rising senior at Bloomfield High School, an A+ student, wrestler and NJ's 3X State Girls Wrestling Champion, needs your help. Kira is going to Fargo, ND to compete against our nation’s best girl wrestlers. Fargo is one of the nation’s largest high school wrestling tournaments. By the end of 2022, we will have traveled to Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, North Dakota and North Carolina just to name a few places. Please give any amount and help send Kira to Fargo. Your generosity will help us with the travel costs (airfare, hotel, car rental and meals).”
Pipkins adds some more about Kira’s background and ambitions:

“She has two older brothers (former wrestlers). She is dedicated to wrestling and has goals to wrestle in college and at the Olympic level. She trains year-round which includes wrestling practice, strength training, clinics and scheduled breaks. She's an artist who enjoys baking and she cooks too. She babysits and is also a personal trainer. She is an honor student and is ranked in the top 10 of her class at Bloomfield High School. We are really proud of her accomplishments and her work ethic.”
