The Health Officer has issued the Code Blue advisory for Camden County effective from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., beginning Nov. 17 and ending the morning of Nov. 22. Temperatures during the code blue will drop as low as 25 degrees. Please note that the new after-hours code blue emergency hotline is 2-1-1.
“As we move into more seasonal climates and the Thanksgiving holiday is on the horizon temperatures are expected to drop dangerously low for an extended period of time so we need to make sure everyone is inside and away from these frigid elements,” Betteridge said. “It’s important that our elderly or residents living with disabilities have their heat in working order and that all pets are brought indoors.”

When the Camden County Health Officer declares a Code Blue Weather Advisory, municipalities with homeless populations, situational homeless or transient populations are expected to activate their Code Blue response plan to accommodate their immediate needs.
“If you know of anyone who is elderly or disabled, please check on them to make sure they’re prepared to stay safe in these dangerous temperatures,” Betteridge said.
With a large portion of households in Camden County owning a cat or a dog Betteridge wants to ensure that all pets are safe during these extreme temperatures as well.
