Collingswood Business Owner to Visit Nicaraguan Orphanage
Katie Duffield of K Bella Boutique has been selected for a 'brand experience service project' in Nicaragua through the Bridgewater Candle Company.

If you look around town onΒ Second Saturday this October, you might notice one fewer face in the crowd.
That's becauseΒ while you're enjoying the sights and sounds of autumn in Collingswood,Β K Bella Boutique owner Katie Duffield will be delivering supplies to children who liveΒ on the outskirts of a trash dump inΒ Managua, Nicaragua.
Duffield was one of three business owners chosen by the Bridgewater Candle Companyβproducts she retails in her Haddon Ave. shopβto participate in the "brand experience service project" Oct. 11-14.
The trip will be paid for by Bridgewater as part of its charitableΒ partnership, "Light a Candle, Feed a Child,"Β with the nonprofitΒ Rice Bowls, which delivers food to orphaned children.
Duffield, who established her store with a focus on sustainable goods and fair trade business practices, was thrilled to share the news.
"I am truly so excited and honored to be going on this trip," Duffield told Patch in an e-mail.
"It's something that I always wanted to do but never thought I would get this type of opportunity."
On October 11, "the group will travel to Nicaragua and spend time delivering supplies to an impoverished community on the outskirts of a trash dump in Managua," a Bridgewater press release reads.
"The group will then continue on to the orphanage and spend time getting to know the kids and complete a service project."
Friends and neighbors can support Duffield's trip by donating toothbrushes and toothpaste at K Bella until Sept. 13. Those who contribute to the cause will get 10 percent off a $25 purchase.
K Bella Boutique is locatedΒ at 684 Haddon Ave. in Collingswood.
