Collingswood Grad Bringing Catering Biz to Westmont
Collingswood native Jill DeTora and her fiancee, Chef Dennis Kelley, are bringing back a Cherry Hill deli and catering service founded by his mother.
After catering out of their home for two years, Chef Dennis Kelley and his fiancΓ©e, Jill DeTora, are ready to bring a healthy dining alternative to Haddon Township.Β Β
The couple will open their new eatery and catering service,Β the Silver Spoon,Β September 3 on Haddon Avenue.
Whether they fix your lunch or plan the dinner at your wedding, says Catering Manager DeTora, the couple promises a menu full of healthy, homemade options.

βI was born and raised in Collingswood, and I love the farmersβ market,β said DeTora, adding that the couple is seeking a local farm partner for the business.
βWe use all local ingredients, and organic products whenever we can.β

The menu includes wraps, sandwiches, burgers and salads, but DeTora is most proud of the Silver Spoonβs wings.
βWe have all different flavors, and theyβre fresh, not frozen,β DeTora said.
Kelley, who earned his degree from theΒ JNA Institute of Culinary ArtsΒ in Philadelphia, worked at the Cheesecake Factory, and then under Chef Joe Brown atΒ the now-closedΒ Melange Cafe.
But he got started in the kitchen years ago, helping his mom, Linda, operate the original Silver Spoon deli she founded in Cherry Hill in 1988.
βHis mother is an unbelievable cook,β DeTora said.
The deli eventually had to take a backseat to full-time parenting for Linda Kelley, but in 2011, her son and his fiancΓ©e reopened the Silver Spoon in Cherry Hill. Two years later, theyβre moving into Haddon Township.
βI love the small town aspect,β DeTora said of the community. βWe feel very welcomed by the township.β
The Silver Spoon also makes food for theΒ St. Charles Barromeo Parrish SchoolΒ in Cinnaminson four days a week during the school year, and Kelley will teach culinary classes at the deli in the fall.
βThereβs nothing too big or too small and we will work with you on our prices,β DeTora said of the catering side of the business.
The Silver SpoonΒ deli is locatedΒ at 142 Haddon Ave. in the Westmont section of HaddonΒ Township.
The storefront will openΒ Sept. 3, with aΒ Sept. 14 grand opening that includes free samples and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
