Collingswood High School Athlete Earns $1,000 College Scholarship

Katelyn Madden earned the scholarship from the NJSIAA during a recent luncheon.

Collingswood, NJ -- Collingswood High School senior Katelyn Madden recently received a $1,000 scholarship from the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA), the organization announced this week.

A total of 217 high school athletes statewide received a total of $172,000 in college scholarships.

Collingswood High School selected Madden, who plays softball and soccer, as its scholar-athlete of the year. She then attended the scholar-athlete luncheon where, through a random drawing, she had the chance to win a college scholarship from one of multiple sponsors.

“This dinner is among my favorite annual events, because we’re able both to recognize and, in some cases, provide a bit of financial assistance to some of New Jersey’s finest student-athletes,” NJSIAA Executive Director Steve Timko said. “Each of the young people in attendance truly stands out at their individual schools, and our association is honored to be able to bring them all together for this special evening.”
